Fosbury magazine features HEARTletics: “when sport reveals its potential as a tool for child well-being”

The cooperative sport journalism outlet Fosbury published on 15 June 2026 a feature in its “Education and Sport” section about HEARTletics, the Erasmus+ Sport project we co-coordinate with European partners to use sport as a vehicle for the emotional and social well-being of children in vulnerable situations.

“The goal of HEARTletics is not to train better athletes — it is to help more boys and girls feel capable, safe and ready to face the challenges of their lives.”

What the article covers

  • The project’s focus on boys and girls aged 6 to 12 in situations of social, migratory or economic vulnerability.
  • Why motivation is not the starting point but the consequence of experiencing competence, belonging and autonomy.
  • The three methodological pillars: safe and predictable environments, emotional regulation and socio-emotional skills built through sport.
  • The “HEARTletics Toolkit”, a free guide planned for early 2027.
  • The role of 6tma Associació – Psicosport in the consortium and the team behind it: Jana Vančáková, Paco Díaz and Jaume Martí.

The three methodological pillars

  1. Build safe, structured and predictable environments.
  2. Help children regulate emotions such as frustration, nervousness or impulsivity.
  3. Develop socio-emotional skills through positive sport experiences.
