Premià de Mar will soon host a series of open sessions for all residents to introduce walking football. In the town, the initiative is led by Jaume Martí, a member of 6TMA Associació, together with former footballer Eusebio Sacristán and his foundation.

The town’s Sports Councillor and First Deputy Mayor, Pep Ripollès, together with technical staff from the sports department, met the promoters of the initiative to learn about the project and offer the council’s support.
What is walking football?
It is a version of football for people who want to try a different sport, or who find it hard to play conventional football. It is played at a walking pace, with no running and less physical contact, but it keeps the essence of the game: passing, shooting, playing as a team and, of course, scoring goals.
Why it matters to 6TMA
Our mission is to promote sports performance with well-being. Walking football fits that mission perfectly:
- It keeps people playing. Many people leave sport not because they lose interest, but because the format no longer suits them. Changing the format means they don’t have to give up the game.
- It builds connections. Playing in a team gives you a group, a routine and a sense of belonging. That matters as much for well-being as the physical activity itself.
- It puts enjoyment first. When people enjoy an activity, it is easier to keep it up over time. And keeping it up is what really makes the difference.
Once the dates of the sessions are confirmed, we will share them here and on our social media. If you’d like to give it a try, or know someone who might enjoy it, we look forward to seeing you there.
